65 @ 65

Story

My twin brother and I will be 65 in the middle of June this year. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with MND in April 2020. His eldest son ran seven marathons in seven days as a fund raiser. Following on this theme I have decided to attempt to run 65 measured distance races in my 65th year. These will comprise of Park Runs (5k) and longer distances up to a marathon (42.2k). I have one booked for next February. My opening major challenge will be the Colworth Challenge which comprises of three races over three days (5 miles, 8.1 miles and 13.1 miles) making a marathon. If you would like to join me for any of these that would be fantastic. If you are able, please could you support me in my fund raising effort. Thanks

Updates

Nearing the end

28th April 2024
Having run three races this weekend I have now completed 57 of my 65 race challenge. I have the next eight races set out and will complete the challenge (all being well) on June 8th at the Great Denham Park Run. If you can, it would be great to have your support there.

50th race completed

30th March 2024
I ran the Great Denham Park Run this morning (30th March) to register my 50th run in by 65 run challenge (having my 49th run yesterday). I have now done 538k race miles. I have the next 15 races sorted and if everything goes as planned my 65th race will be on the 8th June at Great Denham.

Seville marathon

29th February 2024
On the 17th February I completed the Seville marathon in 3.46. It was a nice course (what I remember of it!) but ended up too hot for me. The following Saturday I ran my faster Park Run for some time, this being race 42/65.
